Wessie and Antoinette started a small family business in 2005. They manufacture a range of dairy products from their smallholding near Pretoria.

Some of the products that they manufacture in their factory are:

  • Danish Feta cheese,
  • Stuffed Cherry Peppers
  • Jalapeno Poppers
  • Condensed milk,
  • Drinking Yogurt and
  • Plain Yogurt

They sell to food markets, guesthouses, and restaurants, as well as directly to households.

Although they had very tasty and affordable products they were battling on the marketing side.

We offered to help them.

STEP 1 – GOOGLE MY BUSINESS

We firstly signed them up for Google My Business. This is an essential first step for anyone that runs a business anywhere in the world. People are searching for everything on Google nowadays. Being there will also let customers find them on Google maps and they can then navigate to the business easily. It also allows them to engage better with their customers.

STEP 2 – BUSINESS AND EMPLOYEES PHOTOGRAPHY

The next step was to work on their look and feel. People shop with their eyes.

We went out to their smallholding and photographed their business as well as the owners and employees. These photos were going to be used on their website, Social media marketing accounts as well as Google My Business. It is important that potential customers must get a “feel” for the business and the owners, see what their factory looks like, the cleanliness thereof etc.

STEP 3 – PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY

We also decided that they need some photos of their products that made them look tasty and “yummy” to eat. So we took their products to our studio and photographed them in such a way that we feel it will look wholesome to the customers that must buy it! Here are some of that product shots. Huizens Fabriek can now use that on their social media as well when they market their products. It can also be used on their website and in printed brochures.

STEP 4 – HUIZENS FABRIEK MARKETING VIDEO

Antoinette and Wessie are two extremely nice people. They are the kind of people that you just feel good about when you meet them. We felt that it was important for their potential customers to see that, especially because of the type of industry that they are in. As the saying goes, people don’t buy products, people buy people! We decided to film a video that will show Antoinette and Wessie and that will allow their potential customers to see them and to like them, and also to hear their story. Wessie refused point-blank. LOL. He said he is not a video person So it was up to Antoinette. We thought she looked and sounded VERY good on this video, exactly the image we wanted to portray of the owners.

STEP 5 – FACEBOOK BUSINESS PAGE

Our next step was to open a Facebook page for them. They needed a place where they could engage with customers and tell people what is going on in their business. It is now a few months after we have opened the Facebook page for them and I just saw they have 899 people already following them on Facebook.

STEP 6 – WEBSITE DESIGN

Next we started with the design of their website. We knew that people won’t really take them seriously as a big player if they haven’t got a website. And as I said earlier, everyone searches on Google nowadays if they want something. We also built a shopping cart for them on their website. This will allow people to find their website and place an order from the website. We also signed them up with Payfast so that their customer can immediately make a payment when they place their order online.

STEP 7 – PRODUCT LABEL REDESIGN

When we were busy design their website two more things had to be done:

The first one was that we had to redesign their labels for their products. The previous person that designed it did an aesthetically beautiful, but an impractical job. The label didn’t align properly, and it wasn’t spaced correctly. For instance, you couldn’t read the important things from the front, it wrapped around the side. We started with the redesign and this is what Antoinette and Wessie eventually approved.

STEP 8 – PACKSHOTS FOR WEBSITE SHOPPING CART

The last thing we wanted to do is photograph all their products for display on their shopping cart. They needed beautiful pack shots. Nobody wants to order from a shopping cart if the business has crappy product photos on there. Here are some of the packshots we did for them.

It was an absolute pleasure to be involved with Wessie and Antoinette and to help them to build their brand. We wish you all of the best with Huizens Fabriek, we just know that it will go from strength to strength.
